Tip-tap-toe, we stirred awake today,
Hearts brimming with joy and laughter all the way.

Rubbing your belly, so tiny, so sweet,
You asked, “Mama, can I have a banana treat?”

Oh, my little one, how could I deny that innocent plea,
Your melodious voice and that sweetest glee.

I rushed to the kitchen, my heart full of joy,
To craft a special banana pancake for you to enjoy.

Golden banana, some flour and a sprinkle of warmth,
I poured it onto the pan watching it spread its charm.

Imagining your smile, so wide at your favorite treat,
My heart swelled with pride, in a joy so sweet.

But fate, alas, had to write this story with a different ink,
The pancake broke and my heart began to sink.

The edges crumbled, the sides fell apart,
A jagged mess that shattered my heart.

How could I serve this to you, my dear?
How could I bear the sadness, those pearly tears?

In haste, I grabbed another piece to try,
But the last banana was gone — my hope waved goodbye.

Then you came running, your eyes bright with cheer,
“Mama, mama, my pancake is here!”

I watched, stunned, as you looked at the broken fold,
And whispered, “I love this new shape?” pointing at the shattered pieces so bold.

With a joyful dance, you declared it the best,
Your laughter rising, putting all my fears to rest.

And in that moment, I found the truth I’d missed—
That beauty lies in the broken, in love’s tender kiss.

A pancake, though fractured, was perfect for you,
And in that instant, I saw the world anew.

A wave of wonder washed over me, so pure and true,
All because of you, my love, my miracle, my you.
