Remember that evening staring at those two pink lines,
A promise you made with your hands in mine.

A promise to journey through everything unfolding together,
A promise that come what may, you will stay by my side forever.

And oh so beautifully you have been my rock!
But was it easy for you amidst all those patriarchal standards giving a knock?

I know it must have hurt listening to those constant humiliations,
But every single time your smile covered your frustrations.

Weak, Worthless, Spineless and what not they said,
My heart broke every time when societal judgements they laid.

Redefining fatherhood, you have also renamed manliness along the way,
Being caring, protective, and supportive does not take manhood away.

I am happy to have you as my loving partner,
And even happier for our son to have an ‘unconventional’ father.

To all those wonderful dads who are fighting against the norm,
Thank you for staying strong and making way for a much needed reform.
